“The R’s of the Environment” with the Cultural Space of Trafaria. Portugal 2019
For this new edition of the “Summer Matinees” of the cultural space da junta das freguesias of Trafaria and Caparica, the team proposes to Sylvie Da Costa to collaborate in the preparation of this event and to be in charge of one of the sites where it takes place, Vila Nova da Caparica. She also proposed a workshop on the environment and the 4Rs: reuse, recycle, repair and reduce. The children are made aware of this theme here through paper, which is the material most used in this cultural space and the library. Sylvie Da Costa proposes the creation of hot-air balloons, carrying these R messages for our planet earth, and made entirely of recycling. (More..)
“Drawing 2” at the Lycée Français Charles Lepierre, Lisbon. 2018-2019
Following the success of the “Drawing” project, Sylvie Da Costa continues her interventions at the Lycée Français Charles Lepierre in Lisbon, with a new artistic and pedagogical project “Drawing 2” proposed to 6th grade students. She addresses different notions of perception that make up the technique of drawing, in the form of exercises, to allow the students to enrich their creativity. (More..)
“Drawing the heritage” with the library of Trafaria. Portugal 2018
As part of the “summer mornings”, a summer event outside the walls of the Trafaria library, Sylvie Da Costa proposes a workshop around the idea of the heritage of this city. A pair of children will take photographs of the city’s tiles, which will serve as models for this workshop. The workshop is based on the notion of azulejos, an artistic technique that is highly developed in Portugal. The artist invites the audience to create some kind of azulejos from these examples. “Signage” for the Transformar project, Cova do Vapor. Portugal 2018
As part of the “Transformar” project, by Amalia Buisson and Dune project, Sylvie Da Costa proposes to create an evolving in situ signage to protect the now threatened dunes of the coastline, in Cova do Vapor, a small coastal town on the outskirts of Lisbon. She uses canes rejected by the ocean, painted in yellow and blue by the participants and on wooden plates also reused, she invites them to create a sign with active, positive words, to raise awareness of the population that frequents this place. Various workshops took place this summer 2018 with, among others, the participation of groups of young Americans accompanied by the head of the environmental department of the city of Almada, invested in this project to protect the dunes of the Portuguese coastline. It is inspired by rock art to transmit to the participants notions such as contour drawing and imprinting.
